Masterpieces – The History of a Period

The Wall (50 x 60 cm – 1990)

And what is this wall that we speak of? One before which scores of our heroes have fallen! The wall takes the form of a cedar, its trunk. It is white, immaculate, pure and holy, sacred even. It is a national relic, splashed with the pure blood of our brave defenders, put to death by the forces of evil and hate and rancor, a new Cain rising on the scene. The wall is doubled by its bluish shadow that puts it in front of the event, while in the middle ground is a great crowd richly portrayed with several suns making their appearance. The sun is this spirit which ferments the human soul. The martyr-heroes are separated from the crowd by this wall, this Pantheon of the gods to which the great ones of the nation have access. The ground, in other words the altar, forms the arc of a circle, a portion of of the fratricidal war, history repeating itself in this Orient of dreams that one loves and wishes to see for it better days.
